This listing is for 1 ounce of hand-dyed and picked Border Leicester wool from our girl Buckwheat. The locks were dyed using Greener Shades Heavy Metal-Free Acid dyes, and space-dyed to achieve a lovely variation of blues and purple throughout. Use this wool to form rolags on hand cards, or easily send through a drum carder.
The picking has already been done for you! You may also use it for wet or needle felting, or for spinning from a fist full of wool. A fair amount of veggie matter does still remain in this fiber, so it will require a little more time if you require your finished product to be completely free of Buckwheat's relished hay.
About our flock:
Our sheep are a highlight to our everyday. They are friendly, and always happy to greet you with a nose kiss (okay, maybe there are a few that prefer to just walk away when the offer arises). They receive plenty of good fresh country air, clean water, fresh grass, and organic hay that we cut here on the farm every spring and summer. They love eating treats like organic barley or oats, kelp, and kale. Furthermore, they always get lots of special attention later in the year when all us fiber enthusiasts on the farm can't keep our fingers out of the wool on their backs!
